FOR DOXY PIGS 04-A THROUGH 04-F
SINGLE RING SLICE WITH ALL BEADS IN SLICE
THREE PICTURES PER SLICE, APICAL SIDE, BASAL SIDE, AND THICKNESS OR SIDE VIEW

For apical and basal sides of slice:
- Use ImageJ (calibrated for x pixels/cm)
- Measure surface area of infarct (draw purple ring)
- Measure surface area of epi (draw green ring)
- Measure surface area of endo (draw yellow ring)
- Subtract surface area of endo from surface area of epi to get surface area of tissue
Green area – yellow area = total surface area of tissue
- Measure thickness of slice with ImageJ taking a mean of five different measurements
- Average surface area of infarct of basal side and infarct of apical side
- Multiply mean surface area of infarct by thickness of ring to get volume of infarct
- Average total surface area of basal side total surface area of apical side
- Multiply average found in step 9 by the thickness of the slice to get the total volume of the tissue in the slice
- Divide the volume of the infarct (found in step 8) by the total volume of the tissue (found in step 10) to find the percentage of the volume infarcted
